" .. This site is a great base to explore the surrounding coastline and close enough to golden sand beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde for surf days. My husband, 12 year old son and I stayed in our tent at the end of July and yes, it was windy - we could see wall to wall sea so we expected a breeze!
The site is set on a hill, but has been thoughtfully landscaped so that most pitches are stepped and level. The larger tent pitches are generous and there is plenty of open grass for children to play. During our seven day stay we were never bothered by late night noise from other campers.
We had torrential rain on two consecutive nights, but the pitches drained well and we weren't left with mud under the groundsheet. The grass is cut frequently (and I never heard them start before 9am!)
The pool is clean and well heated for an outdoor pool - it is also well sheltered from wind. Free wifi around the bar area. We didn't eat there but heard it is a little expensive. The staff were very friendly, contrary to other reviews I have read - I always find that if you are pleasant and friendly, you will get the same back.
The shower block and washing up sinks were a fair walk away from our pitch, but you can't have it all! I quite liked the unisex all-in-one cubicles and the water was always hot and I never had to wait. A sloping corrugated roof could be put over the washing up sinks easily and would help on rainy days!
So the test is - would I stay here again? And the answer is yes! .. "
